Aussies enforced the follow-on after punching out the hosts for a mere 157 in response to their 459-5 on the 3rd day of the Wellington Test.

New Zealand left the third day on 187 for 5 in need of an enormous turnaround.

Doug Bollinger’s fiery left-arm pace bowling left New Zealand struggling to avoid an innings loss on the third day at Wellington. Australia enforced the follow-on after punching out the hosts for a mere 157 in response to their 459-5; despite a better performance in the second innings.

Captain Daniel Vettori could only get to 46. Doug Bollinger took 5 while Ryan Harris got 2.

After the follow-on, the black caps put on a far better show than the first innings. Brad Watling (33) and Tim McIntosh (83) defended watchfully in a gutsy 70-run opening stand, seeing the hosts unscathed to lunch with careful defence and the odd unshackling hit over the fence.
