IPL: Royal Challengers outclassed Mumbai Indians to reach final

Chris Gayle’s onslaught followed by Daniel Vettori and Syed Mohammad as Royal Challengers Bangalore entered into the final of Indian Primer League Season 4 (IPL 4) by routing Mumbai Indians by 43 runs in the 2nd Qualifier of IPL, played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Friday.

Flamboyant Caribbean batsman’s 89 off 47 assisted Royal Challengers to manage a colossal total of 186 after losing four wickets. Their incursion on Mumbai line-up restricted them to 142-8. Royal Challengers will take on their old antagonists, Chennai Super Kings in the definitive game on Saturday.

Rajagopal Sathish scored unbeaten 18 off 21 balls but were not enough, and Mumbai can hardly reach to 142 for 8 in specified 20 overs.

In reward to his thrilling innings, Chris Gayle was named for the Man of the Match Award. This is the sixth one for him in the ongoing IPL.

“The outfield was very quick and wicket was good to bat on,” Gayle said during presentation ceremony.

“Lasith and Harbhajan are their key bowlers so I was looking to be a bit tentative against them. The wicket held up a bit when they chased, so we don’t know what to expect in the final,” he further said.
