Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has planned to erect country’s third Test cricket ground on Victoria Falls if local authority sanction is acquired which ZC anticipates. It will be within spectacle of the mile long Falls with its 100 meters yawning arroyo spanning the Zambezi River.
Victoria Falls, regarded as one of the natural speculates of the world, lie in between Zambia and Zimbabwe in Southern Africa. The falls are part of two national parks, Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park in Zambia and Victoria Falls National Park in Zimbabwe.
“Following the soccer World Cup in South Africa the eyes of the world are on Africa as a sports destination. Victoria Falls is a wonderful location. It has a year round sunny climate and the potential for big crowds,” the chief executive of ZC Ossias Bvute said on Monday night.
The African side is scheduled to play a Test and ODI series in August this year against Bangladesh which will be immediately followed by Pakistan.
Zimbabwe was strained to extract from Test cricket in 2005 due to shun of some senior players, after which the Zimbabwean ‘A’ team was given the statues of national side.
A return to Tests was agreed after a meeting with the ICC in Harare last April.
