The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on Tuesday, accepting Shahid Afridi’s decision to retire from international cricket, has suspended the central contract of former skipper and issued him the show-cause notice.
On the mean time it rescinds all No-Objection certificates (NOC) for him, which means that he will not be formally allowable to play domestic or county cricket.
“PCB has initiated action against Afridi in response to the multiple breaches he has committed under the central contract signed with PCB,” PCB said in its statement.
“Afridi’s central contract has been suspended with immediate effect. Consequently, all NOCs granted to him have been revoked. All payments on account of central contract have been suspended.”
According to PCB Afridi has violated the two clauses of his contract due to which the show-cause notice has been issued to him. On which he is observant to admit his reply within one week.
Afridi was swept by Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq as his successor last week.
31-year-old veteran all-rounder was announced conditional retirement from international cricket on Monday as a blot of gripe against the way he was mortified by the PCB, saying:
“I can’t play under a board that doesn’t respect its players. Because of this, under protest, this is a conditional retirement.”
