Record-breaking batsman Sachin Tendulkar, has been given the award of Indian Cricketer of The Year for giving outstanding performances in 2009-2010, on Tuesday. Tendulkar, the world’s leading Test and one-day cricket scorer, received the Polly Umrigar award, in a function held by BCCI in Mumbai.
In the 10 Test matches during, October 2009 to September 2010, Tendulkar had made 1,064 runs which also include one double-century and five hundreds. In 12 one-days internationals he scored 695 runs which include first double-century in one-days, against South Africa in Gwalior in February 2010, as well.
Salim Durani, the former Test all-rounder, received the C. K. Nayudu award. This award is named after another former India captain, for his lifetime contribution to the game.From 1960-1973, Durani played 29 Tests from, made 1,202 runs and secured 75 wickets in hand.
The domestic cricket best player’s award was won by Manish Pandey. He scored 882 runs in nine matches in the Ranji Trophy. Domestic cricket best bowler award has been given to
Karnataka paceman Abhimanyu Mithun, for securing 47 wickets in nine matches. The World Cup winning team has also been congratulated in the function.
