The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has said that it can forbid former skipper Shahid Afridi from participating in the foundational Sri Lankan Premier League (SLPL) if all-rounder doesn’t stop his tirades against the board.
The PCB, earlier this month, refurbished the permission for Afridi to play abroad fining him 4.5 million rupees ($52,300) for violating the PCB’s code of conduct. The issuance of No Objection Certificate (NOC) made him able to represent Hampshire in English Twenty20 League.
Afridi’s continuous outbursts have chagrined the board and some of its higher officials are not in errand of granting him an NOC to play in forthcoming SLPL.
An official of PCB while talking to a leading Pakistani newspaper ‘Express Tribune’ on Thursday said the local governing body would not vacillate in intriguing action against Afridi in case of ‘foul play’.
31-year-old Afridi, in his recent statement, once again criticized PCB saying that there are non-professional people in the board and changes needed in the governing body.
The official counseled that Afridi should not take things for granted. “Afridi is still being monitored closely and said “Afridi is still being monitored closely.”
“The board is keeping a hawk’s eye on his interviews. Any harsh statement against the board may lead him to trouble again. He will have to apply for NOCs for other tournaments again and any foul play will surely block his participation,” Tribune quoted as official said.
