Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has accused Board of Control of Cricket (BCCI) of double standard over Sri Lankan Primer League (SLPL), scheduled to be held in R.Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo from 19th of July to 04th of August this year.
BCCI was stopped its players from playing Sri Lankan Primer League saying that the Twenty20 league is run by a Singapore based private party Somerset Entertainment Ventures (SEV) not by SLC.
SEV has succeeded the commercial rights of the event which absconds the SLC with audibly little stake in the management of competition.
“What they are saying is there is another party involved. There is no logic, “points out Lankan sports minister Somachandra de Silva said while talking to media reporters on Wednesday.
It is to be notable that IMG, another private company, is concerned with the Indian Premier League (IPL), which is run by Indian Cricket Board.
“What about the IPL tournament? There is another party involved – IMG. What is IMG doing with IPL?” de Silva questioned.
De Silva once again urged BCCI to reconsider its decision saying:
”I sincerely hope the Indian cricket board will think about it again and release these players. This is not a long tournament. It is only 16 days.”
