English batsman Jonathan Trott has supported the skipper of his team Andrew Strauss and expressed hope that the opening batsman would come good in the four-match Test series against India which is scheduled to be start on Thursday at Lord’s.
Trott said that no one should be doubtful about the ability of Strauss. The captain of English cricket team had a woeful series against Sri Lanka, he scored just 27 runs in the 1-0 series win.
Trott said: “I thought people would have learned from when everyone was talking about Alastair Cook! It’s only a matter of time for Andy. He’s been working really hard with -Graham Gooch (England batting coach), coming to the one-dayers and working hard in between, before and after games.”
He further said that Strauss is really committed and the whole team ¬respect Andy so much, as the ¬captain and as batsman as well.
Trott is eying to score a third century at Lord’s. He scored 226 against Bangladesh last summer and then scored 184 runs to rescue England against Pakistan at Lord’s, which will hosting the 100th Test between India and England and the 2000th Test of the game.
He concluded his talk saying: “It’s great to walk in there and see your name on the -honours board. It always gives you ¬extra confidence.”
