Veteran England batsman Jonathan Trott will have a scan on his left shoulder following an injury during the fielding on the second day of second Test against India at Trent Bridge on Saturday, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said.
Trott fell after lunch when diving at mid-off in an attempt to stop Rahul Dravid from scoring a run. Though he stopped the ball but immediately looked distressed and writhed on the outfield clutching the shoulder.
He immediately humbled-out of the ground, accompanied by the team’s physio and doctor and returned to the field some 30 minutes before lunch on Saturday.
“Jonathan Trott is to undergo a scan later today on his left shoulder to determine his participation in the rest of the Test,” an ECB statement said.
The injury of 30-year-old Trott brought off-spinner Graeme Swann into the action, who was sidelined from bowling due to seamer Friendly conditions.
It seems that Trott will not be available for batting in England’s second innings, which is just kicked-off
This is the second mishap for English team in the four-match series after fast bowler Chris Tremlett was ruled out of the second clash before the match following a hamstring injury.
