England off-spinner Graeme Swann has been reprimanded for kicking the stumps during the 2nd Test match between against India at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, on Saturday.
The angry man was penalized by the on-field umpires following a violation of International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Code of Conduct Article 2.1.2.
The confrontation took place in the 80th over when Swann, whose 12 wicketless overs on cost 76 runs, lashed-out in aggravation, shortly before England took the new ball with India 258 for four, and dislodged the bails.
Swann, admitting his fault, quickly apologized to the on-field umpires, Asad Rauf and Marais Erasmus.
The charge was laid by Asad Rauf and Marais Erasmus the third umpire Billy Bowden, of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires as well as fourth umpire Tim Robinson, an ICC statement said.
As 32-year-old Swann accepted the penalty by the ICC match referee Ranjan Madugalle so there was no need for formal hearing.
Swann’s act comes as the second of the fixture, after Indian fast bowler Praveen Kumar, was fined for arguing with the umpire during the morning session of opening day.
The tourist pacer was fined 20 % of his match fee after inflowing into a long-drawn-out quarrel with umpire Erasmus, over an LBW decision.
