Trent Copeland has almost cemented his place in the playing XI for the Gaul Test against Sri Lanka. He was also recently named in the Australia A 4 day and 1 day squads to tour Zimbabwe in July 2011 and now can be given Test Cap in the first competition of the series. Usman Khwaja and Shaun Marsh are battling for the 6th position.
According to details, three-match Test series between Sri Lanka and Australia is starting from Wednesday at Gaul. Before this match, Kangaroo’s three-day clash with Board XI was concluded in draw but it left many difficulties for Australian team management.
The visitors rested one of their most important players, Michel Johnson, in that match and gave chance to new right-arm fast bowler Trent Copeland as his replacement. He secured 6 wickets in 22 overs at the cost of 61 runs; Peter Sidle failed to grab any wicket.
Pakistan-born Usman Khwaja faced the spin bowling very handsomely and succeeded to contribute a century score to the scorecard; his marvelous show has caused difficulty for the team management. Now they are facing the challenge to select either Khwaja or Shaun Marsh for the 6th position. Australia skipper Michael Clark continuously pondered over this issue during two-hour long journey to Gaul.
