The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday constituted three-man committee to look for a new coach for national team.
Legendry Test batsman Zaheer Abbas will head the committee while the other members are development manager Intikhab Alam and former Test wicketkeeper Naushad Ali.
The assistance will be provided by ex-opening batsman and present commentator Rameez Raja.
It is to be remembered that current coach Waqar Younis has stepped down due to some “health related” problems. He will perform his duties for the last time during the Zimbabwe tour.
The committee will began its search after Eid-ul-Fitar and PCB has made it clear that the option of hiring a foreign coach could not be ruled out as the idea was to stumble on the best candidate to work with the national team.
“The committee will look for coaches both from within and outside Pakistan” The Chief Operating Officer of PCB Subhan Ahmed said in a statement released today.
Subhan further said that they are in touch with Australia’s David Whatmore.
“Whatmore is working in India but obviously we can have talks with him,” Chief said.
The insiders have told cricketmove.com that a majority of people inside PCB are not in the favor of the appointment of foreign coach and according to them the obligation should be given to Aaqib Javed.
