Bilateral series between India and Pakistan attract the attention of people all over the world. The last bilateral series between the two countries was played in December 2007 for which Pakistan traveled to India. In return India was due to visit Pakistan but the Mumbai attacks caused the cancellation of India’s tour to Pakistan. Pakistan team reached Mohali earlier this year to play World Cup semi-final with India.
In his recent visit to India Chairman PCB Ijaz Butt met with ICC chief and Indian Federal Minister Sharad Pawar. In special interview to a media representative, Butt told that he met several BCCI officials during his tour; both countries have expressed their interest in restoration of bilateral series.
He further said both boards are working to give final shape to the rules and regulation to make holding of the series possible; hopefully all matters will be settled soon and the cricket lovers will hear the good news soon.
In response to a question regarding holding of this bilateral series at neutral venue, Butt said we are giving final touch to different things so nothing can be said yet. In contrast, Rajiv Shakla, vice-president of BCCI as well showed incognizance regarding the neutral venue; he said he doesn’t know anything about it.
Under the ICC new future tour program both countries are due to play series in March, April 2012.
