The three-member committee hired by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for appointing a new coach for the national team has short-listed five candidates.
The chairman of the committee Intikhab Alam said that out of the 37 applicants for the job names of five coaches have been finalized which includes Pakistani as well as foreign coaches. The other two members of the committee Naushad Ali and Zaheer Abbas were also present on the occasion.
Alam said that Chief Operating Officer of PCB Subhan Ahmed could not attend the meeting and Ramiz Raja had been contacted through the phone from London.
He further said that they will recommend and present the list before chairman PCB Ijaz Butt and then he will make the final decision about the coach of national team.
He told that they received total 37 applications for the coach job, after the former coach Waqar Younis has stepped down and going to Australia for treatment, which include 12 foreign and 25 Pakistanis coaches.
“There may be an interim coach for the series against Sri Lanka but all depends on PCB Chairman,” Alam commented.
Pakistan will play against Sri Lanka in the offshore series scheduled to be held in the United Arab Emirates next month.
