Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq has advised his former counterpart Shahid Afridi to to reconsider his decision to retire from international cricket saying he believes that the all-rounder still has several years cricket left in him but he should once make a unambiguous decision about his future.
“Look, if you ask me, I think Afridi can still play for Pakistan as he still has some years of international cricket left in him. But what he wants to do is entirely his own decision,” Misbah answered to a media reporters’ question in National Stadium Karachi on Thursday.
“I can only advise him to rethink his retirement decision and decide once for all what he wants to do. But I would maintain he still can play international cricket,” added the 37-year-old.
The skipper made it clear he had no personal issues with Afridi.
Misbah was appointed skipper in trio formats after Afridi announced his conditional retirement from international cricket in May, in gripe of spam the way he was sacked by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’ from captaincy after the West Indies tour following his differences with head Coach Waqar Younis and his publicly criticism on the team management.
Younis recently resigned from his job due to medical reasons after which Afridi has also hinted to revoke his retirement.
