The chief selector of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) section committee, Mohsin Khan has hinted to fortify the pace-attack for forthcoming “home” series against Sri Lanka in United Arab Emeritus (UAE).
The Pakistan’s touring-party for the recent series against Zimbabwe was an experimental one, in which they rested their front-line pacers Umar Gul, Tanvir Ahmed and Wahab Riaz to give opportunity to fresh promising pacers Sohail Khan, Aizaz Cheema and Junaid Khan.
Not only in pace attack, there were also some modifications in the spin department, as Yasir Shah was given a berth in the team ahead of the veteran Abdur Rehman and he inspired glowingly.
“We can’t just go out with the similar combination as it (the Zimbabwe tour) was just a test for our back-up lot for future prospects,” Mohsin said while speaking to a leading cricket website on Thursday.
“Indeed it was a successful experimentation but at the same time we are wary of the opposition as Sri Lanka are a tough side to play,” added Mohsin.
The Pakistani squad is likely to be announced in the next week.
Pakistan are scheduled to depart for the UEA on October 15. The first Test of three-match series will start on October 18.
