England might have outclassed India in trio formats of sport in their recent home series but one-day captain Alastair Cook deems that defeating World Champions in their own soil in the forthcoming one-day series would be a hardest task as they would be apprehensive for taking vengeance.
“Of course it will be difficult over there. They will have a point to prove and the conditions will obviously suit them. I doubt we will see much green grass on the wickets we play on,” Cook said while speaking to a leading British newspaper on Friday.
“They are world champions at home and itching to get revenge. It is down to us and how we cope with conditions and how we play. The best players adapt to that. We have players who have never played in India in an England shirt,” he added.
During England’s disastrous tour, India were whitewashed 0-4 in the four-match Test series to hand hosts’ the top Test rank, defeated in the one-off Twenty20 game before finishing the tour by losing the five-match one-day series 0-3 which resulted in their slump to fifth place in ODI rankings.
As India will be without their several star names including Sachin Tendulkar, Zaheer Khan, Virender Sehwag, and Yuvraj Singh, who sustained injuries during England tour, it would be a golden opportunity for English team to win one-day series in India after 26 years.
