Faisal Bank T20: Multan Tigers defeated Afghan Cheetas by four wickets

Naved Yasin four wicket burst and Zain Abbas’s blazing half-ton led Multan Tigers their only conquest in Faisal Bank Twenty20 Tournament after they hold nerves to script sensational four-wicket victory against Afghan Cheetas in the last over thriller in their final game, at National Stadium Karachi on Friday.

After the skipper of events’ solitary abroad team Mohammad Nabi opted to bat, Yasin (4-17) and his fellow pacers through their accurate bowling to restrict Cheetas to 131-9.

In response, opener Abbas (54) laid the foundations of Tigers victory, which were well-vindicated by Kamran Hussain (33 not out) and Shabbir Ahmed (22 not out) after stagger as the national side chased-down the target with four balls to spare.

Gulbodin Naib captured the return catch of Tigers wicketkeeper batsman Gulraiz Sadaf (8) before Hamid Hassan trapped opener Mohammad Sami lbw for a blob.

A couple of overs later, Karim Sadiq had Moinuddin (11) caught by Nabi at mid-off, who later secured Naved Yasin’s return catch for duck.

Around the nonstop felling wickets, strong-minded Abbas stirred on to accelerate flow of runs on the scoreboard swiftly. His stormy 35-ball knock, which was studded with four boundaries and two monster sixes, was concluded by Nabi, who made him catch of Naib at silly point.

When Nasim Khan sent Ansar Javed back to pavilion for duck in the punishment of getting his low-pitched delivery on his pads in front of stumps, Tigers were struggling at 90 for 6.

But Yasin and Shabbir Ahmed led Tigers fight-back and batted levelheadedly to let their side beyond the target.

Multan Tigers VS Afghan Cheetas: Hussain lashed three four, a six

Hussain’s lashed three boundaries and a six in his 27-ball knock while Shabbir managed two boundaries and a six in his 14-ball cameo.

Prior to this, Najib Taraki (34) and Nabi (34) played combating knocks around two spells of collapse as five of their batsmen failed to reach double figures.

Yasin uprooted the stumps of Najibullah Zadran (0) and Sadiq (0) in successive overs. He earlier edged Naib (1) to wicketkeeper Sadaf and had Taraki caught by Shahbaz Ahmed at deep mid-wicket.

Shabbir Ahmed dismissed Nabi and Samiullah Shenwari (0) before plunking the stumps Hamid Hassan (5) in innings second-last delivery.
