Veteran Australia batsman Michael Hussey has said that skipper Michael Clarke enjoys the full back of his team-mates and that Oz are heading in the right direction after the recent struggles.
Clarke, who took the charge of captaincy after the resigning of Ricky Ponting due to pitiable campaign in World Cup earlier this year, lead Australia to four successive series victories, over Bangladesh (one-day), Sri Lanka (one-day and Test), and South Africa (one-day), since then.
A couple of days ago discarded opener Simon Katich sparked controversy by claming that Clarke had a role in keeping him out of the team.
“If you want to be part of this Australian team, you’ve got to go with the captain and we respect the way he wants to take the team,” Hussey said while speaking to a leading news agency on Monday.
“Even someone like Ricky who has been captain, he’s jumping on board as well and it just shows that the guys really do want to play for Australia, we do want to play under Michael and I think we’re definitely going in the right direction.”
The left-hander further said that 2-1 victory over Proteas in one-day series has boosted their morale and all concentrations are on the Test series, set to get underway from November 17 in Johannesburg.
