Darren Bravo’s Test ton helped West Indies to consolidate their domination over Bangladesh in the definitive second Test in Mirpur on Monday.
Bravo, who has slammed two towering sixes and seven boundaries in his unconquered 165-ball knock so far, put on stalwart 151 with Kirk Edwards for third wicket after the cheap dismissal of openers as the tourists reached 207-3 in their second innings at stumps of day 3, extending the overall lead to 331 runs.
Edwards’ cracked seven fours and a six in his 204 ball-knock before plumbing lbw to debutant spinner Suhrawadi Shuvo in the stoppage time.
Shakib Al Hasan, who picked up five wickets in the first innings, managed to claim the only wicket of Kieran Powell caught by Nasir Hossain for 12 after Kraigg Brathwaite run out for blob in the first over.
Prior to this, responding to West Indies’ 355, Bangladesh were bowled out for 231 in their first innings. The hosts could add 27 runs to their overnight total of 204-7 before losing their remaining three wickets.
Fidel Edwards was chief-in-destroyer of Bangladesh batting line, who claimed top-five wickets to cripple their batting line.
Devendra Bishoo picked up three while Marlon Samuels took one wicket. The opening Test was ended in a draw in Chittagong.
