
Sri Lanka sports minister asks cricket team to shape up
Sports Minister had a meeting with the players, selectors and administrators Tuesday in hunt of a solution for the problem before the starting of impending Test and one-day away series against of South Africa next month.
“It was revealed that the main reason why the national cricket team had failed to perform was due to miscommunication between the team, the selectors and the coaches,” the source quoted Aluthgamage as saying.
The necessarily and significance of Captain Tillakaratne Dilshan’s sound communication with the coach as well as with the players was discussed in detail during the meeting.
The players had the permission to discuss the matters with their sports minister “openly and freely,” the source revealed.
Sri Lanka have lost the their last three Test as well as one-day series in England, against Australia at home and the recently concluded series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates.
Their worst performance came against Pakistan where the hosts inflicted a massive defeat over them in Test, ODI and T20 series by 1-0 and 4-1 respectively.
