Ryan Harris returns to Australia Test squad
32-year-old Harris, who has been out with a hip injury, is now set to join James Pattinson, Peter Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus to form up four-man pace attack. He replaced left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc, who was 12th man in Melbourne, in the only change to the side.
Harris sustained injury in last month’s South Africa tour but picked up 1-35 in his four over spell for Brisbane Heat in yesterday’s Big Bash League Twenty20 match in Perth.
Meanwhile All-rounder Shane Watson remains sidelined by a calf injury while his counterpart Daniel Christian and pacer Mitchell Starc, who both were included in the initial 13-man squad, have been segregated.
Ricky Ponting and Michael Hussey have fortified their spots with vital contributions at the MCG, while gloveman Brad Haddin also retained in squad despite a not-too-impressive performance in the series-opener.
Michael Clarke (Captain), Ricky Ponting, David Warner, Ed Cowan, Shaun Marsh, Michael Hussey, Brad Haddin, Peter Siddle, James Pattinson, Ben Hilfenhaus, Nathan Lyon and Ryan Harris.
