Mickey Arthur says Australia’s pace attack could be world best
Peter Siddle-led pace department, which features Ben Hilfenhaus and James Pattionson as other two members, shared nineteen wickets between them to set up a comprehensive 122-run victory over India in the first Test in Melbourne on Thursday.
And now the hosts have another catastrophic seamer Ryan Harris to squad for second Test, starting from January 3 in Sydney.
Still two destructive forces, 18-year-old pace sensation Patrick Cummins and the backbone of pace attack Shane Watson, who both are passing through the rehabilitation process, are waiting in wings to retrieve their spots in the national side.
“I do think this pace attack has the potential to become the best in the world,” said Arthur, who is also part of the five-man selection panel.
Though skipper Michael Clarke had hinted to adopt four-seamer policy for Sydney game, Arthur says inclusion of a spinner has not been ruled out.
“Obviously conditions will determine that but the SCG has normally got a history of favouring spin down the line,” he said.
Arthur also expressed confidence on batting line-up and applauded Mike Hussey and Ricky Ponting who both contributed vital runs in the first Test.
