
Brendon McCullum to lead Blackcaps in limited-over series against Zimbabwe
Uncapped players in the one-day squad are, all-rounder Andrew Ellis, spinners Michael Bates and Tarun Nethula and gloveman Tom Latham while Twenty20 squad includes Bates, batsman Colin de Grandhomme and left-arm spinner Ronnie Hira.
Explaining the philosophy behind the inclusion of a number of new caps, the National Selection Manager Kim Littlejohn said that the rookies have get their chance through impressive performances in the domestic circuit and they believe it’s the right time to take a look at players who will be in the frame for the World Twenty20 in September.
Meanwhile opening batsman Jesse Ryder either was not available for selection due to calf tear.
The first of three one-day games is scheduled in Dunedin next Friday, and the opening T20 match is in Auckland on February 11.
