Abdur Rehman's claimed his career-best figures of 6-25 to guide Pakistan 72-run victory
The 31-year-old left-arm spinner took two wickets in successive overs as England capitulated for their lowest total of 72 against Pakistan, in purse of 145 runs.
Off-spinner Saeed Ajmal finished with 3-22, boosting his tally of wickets in two Tests to 17.
Earlier, left-arm spinner Monty Panesar ended with 6-62 as Pakistan were bowled out for 214, before the tourists crumbled.
Pakistan had crushed England by ten wickets in the first Test in Dubai inside three days. Both sides will return to Dubai for the third Test and final Test, starting from February 3.
Only skipper Andrew Strauss (32) and Matt Prior (18) reached double figures as England lost their last five wickets for just four runs.
Rehman removed Kevin Pietersen (1) and Eoin Morgan (naught) in back-to-back deliveries to intensify the hopes of an unlikely victory for Pakistan before off-spinner Mohammad Hafeez and Ajmal scalped Alastair Cook (7) and Ian Bell (3) early respectively.
Wickets continued to topple like nine pins against Rehman after the interval and he dismissed Strauss, Jonathan Trott (1), Stuart Broad (naught) in the quick-succession to expand leave England reeling at 68-7.
In the subsequent over Ajmal perished Graeme Swann (naught) and wicketkeeper-batsman Matt Prior (18) to put Pakistan at brink of victory.
Rehman got rid of James Anderson (1) on the first delivery of 37th over to wrap up the game.
Earlier, resuming the innings at 125-4, Pakistan added 89 runs to their overnight score before losing all six wickets with Azhar Ali scoring a determined half-ton.
Ali’s sagacious 195-ball knock was studded with eight boundaries.
Rehman (10) and Ajmal (17) stitched up precious 36 runs for the eighth wicket.
