Jesse Ryder returns to New Zealand ODI Squad
Ryder had missed the one-off Test, one-day and Twenty20 series against Zimbabwe and the first two Twenty20 matches against South Africa because of a calf injury.
Canterbury all-rounder Andrew Ellis, who asked to return to Christchurch to be with family for the anniversary of the Canterbury earthquake, fell the place vacant for Ryder in the Twenty20 squad.
“We’re pleased with the progress Jesse has made since returning from injury, and with Andrew [Ellis] not available for the final match we felt it was a good opportunity to bring him back into the mix,” the national selection manager Kim Littlejohn said.
Meanwhile all-rounder James Franklin and the fast bowler Andy McKay have made a comeback to squad but Jacob Oram and Dean Brownlie have been ruled out through injury – Brownlie with a fractured finger and Oram with a troublesome left calf, while promising Canterbury batsman Tom Latham has been axed.
With Ross Taylor injured, Brendon McCullum will continue to lead the side.
