After winning the toss Australian Captain R Ponting decided to bat first at Cardiff. Australian team came over strongly in the start of the inning but their first wicket falls on 51 runs. TD Paine got out after scoring 16 runs including 3 fours.

Other opening batsmen SR Watson stayed on the wicket and successfully completed his half century. He made 57 runs and got out. He also hit 8 boundaries. He was in good touch but got out. RT Ponting the captain didn’t trouble the scorers much and got out after adding 13 runs after him MJ Clarke got out at 1 run.

Australia lost their fist match against England so they are under some pressure and lost too many wickets in the start. CL White along with SPD Smith stabilized Australian inning. White scored 86 runs and remains not out. He hit seven fours and 2 sixes. SPD Smith added 41 with the help of three boundaries. Australi managed to score 239 runs in their 50 over and lost 7 wickets.

After the lunch break England will start their chase of 240 runs. England team consisted of: AJ Strauss, C EJG Morgan, MH Yardy, LJ Wright, TT Bresnan, Kieswetter, KP Pietersen, PD Collingwood, GP Swann, SCJ Broad and JM Anderson.
