On 16th August, India beat Sri Lanka and also gained bonus point. India opener V Sehwag remained not out despite of hitting a six. He was on 99 not out and he hit the ball for six requiring India 1 run to win but that was no ball. India won by no ball and Sehwag remained on 99. During post match interview Sehwag said that he is not upset for not making 100. He said the main purpose was taken India to win and that was accomplished.

Indian team celebrated win and bonus point but Sehwag could not celebrate the happiness of three figure. Both Sri Lanka Cricket and off spinner Suraj Randiv has apologized from Sehwag for the no ball. He said that it was no deliberate action. Sri Lanka Cricket secretary Nishantha Ranatunga said that they have regrets on bowling no ball and that cost Sehwag his century. He said that Sehwag deserve 100 after playing so nicely.

Sehwag tweeted and said that Randive came to his room to apologize. In cricket rule he has no reason to apologize but he still launched apology in cricket spirit. Sehwag said that it was tactic from Sri Lanka for not allowing him to get 100. They did in past in Cuttack with similar tactics and Sachin Tendulker. remained at 96 runs.
