World champions of cricket are on the edge of worst losing streak. Australia is world champion since 1999. They have won three consecutive world cups by beating three Asian giants Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka in 1999, 2003 and 2007 respectively. After losing from Sri Lanka in 2nd ODI at Sydney cricket ground three times world champions are on the edge of worst losing streak.

Sri Lanka looked committed to get win in the third and final ODI of series. Sri Lanka already got decisive lead of 2-0 against Australia. Last match defeat was 6th for Australian in a row in any format of game.

Australia lost from Pakistan after 15 year then they tour India and lost T-20 series and ODI series. In the current series against Sri Lanka they have already lost T-20 and ODI series. This makes 6 defeats in a row. The worst for Australia is 7 defeats in a row. They never lost 8 matches in a row.

It looked difficult for Australia to secure them from worst defeat as R Ponting is not playing in the third ODI. M Clark will perform captaincy and he has to stop Sri Lankan from winning. Just 19 days to go to Ashes and Australians are on the edge of worst defeat. England is planning to take full advantage to current Australian form.
