Fifth day of the first test match of Ashes series again went to batsmen. It looked like a batting paradise. England batting was excellent. Only three English batsmen posted 517 runs in the second inning. England declared the 2nd inning on day five with only 1 wicket down. AJ Strauss was the only centurion batsman who got out on the forth day of the first test match.
IJL Trott scored 135 runs and remained not out. AN Cook played the brilliant inning and he was not out on 235 runs when England declared the inning. England wants to test Australian batting so they declare their 2nd inning.
The match was under Australia’s control but three batsmen of England completely turned the match. It was nothing for Australia and they were not able to get any wickets for Australia.
Australia opened their second inning and lost their fist wicket on 5 runs when SM Katick got out. It was brilliant start for England but they were not able to get more wickets in the second inning. Australia played 26 over in the 2nd inning. There was some aggression shown by Australian captain which indicates his commitment. He scored half century. Second test will be played at Adelaide starting from 2nd December.
