On day two of the fourth Ashes test match England started the inning with 59 runs lead. Cook fell early in the day after that England captain also departed on 69 runs. Both openers provided 159 runs opening stand to the visitors. IJL Trott who is in good form continues his form and played as back bone of England’s inning. KP Pietersen joined him and they both scored 92 runs.
KP Pietersen got out after completing his half century. He scored 51 runs. After KP Pietersen got out England lost two more wickets in quick succession and pressure came on England team. They were 286 for the loss of five wickets. MJ Prior came to bat and he batted steadily with Trott and they both took England to a position where they can easily win the match and retained the Ashes.
Trott was not out on 141 at the end of the day while Prior was batting on 75 runs. England lead is now 346 runs and they still have five wickets in hand. Total has reached 444 runs. MG Johnson and PM Siddle are the two successful bowlers for Australia. England will resume the inning tomorrow and it is expected that the will try to score more runs as they can.
