In the fifth and final test match of Ashes series, England opener AN Cook scored 189 runs. He played steady inning and batted for a long time. IR Bell also helped him and he also scored 115 runs before he got out. Then came a fifty from MJ Prior and he is still not out on 54 runs. England grip over Ashes series is now very strong. They are in position to win the Ashes series by 3-1. There is no probability of Australian win in this match.
At the end of the day England has scored 488 runs and they have lost their seven wickets. GP Swan and TT Bresnan are still waiting to bat. England has also attained 208 runs lead over Australian. It is really tough time for Australia to survive in this match.
MG Johnson is the only Australian bowler who picked up three wickets for Australia. Other four bowlers picked up a wicket each. In the first inning Australia batted first and they scored 280 runs. It was cloudy and rainy start of the test match that caused some difficulties for batsmen to stay on the wicket. MG Johnson was the top scorer batsman for Australia with his 53 runs inning.
