The ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat has promised that complete details of the spot-fixing investigation. The case details will be revealed once the tribunal decision is announced on 5 February. It is to be remembered that the six-day tribunal in Doha, Qatar ended without a final decision. It was revealed that tribunal was scrutinizing the two Tests.

The charges brought against fast bowler Mohammad Asif, Pacer Mohammad Amir and former captain Salman Butt in relation to The third Test of the Pakistan-England series played in August 2010 was the key development over those days.

Muhammad Amir and Muhammad Asif were proved innocent regarding The 3rd Test played at Oval before the conclusion of the hearing in Doha. But Salman Butt, who was the Pakistan captain for the series against England, remains under investigation. Lorgat said that he is not in a position to elaborate on the details which led the ICC to extend their investigation towards the match Pakistan won to level the series.

Lorgat said in Melbourne while taking to media reporters:”You’ll recall when we held a press conference when the spot fixing first broke in London, Sir Ronnie Flanagan and myself indicated that wherever the evidence leads us we will proceed to investigate in
absolute detail,” He further said: “As we proceeded with the initial Lord’s Test that was the subject of the original investigation there were certain leads which led us to The Oval Test match. We weren’t prepared to leave any stone unturned so we presented certain charges for that match as well.”

“We don’t comment on investigations, we don’t report on ACSU matters and once all of this is said and done and the verdict is out a more full report will be provided.” He answered to the reporter’s question.

Lorgat said that he is satisfied by the functioning of the tribunal that how the investigation had moved and he believe that the tribunal has done very well and now all of us are await a final verdict. All three players accused of being involved in spot-fixing will be involved in Pakistan’s Mega event campaign. But the new date of announcing the final verdict, 5 February is just two weeks before launching the Mega event.
