LAHORE: Pakistan Vs England T20, The Selection Committee of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the fourteen-member team for Twenty20 series against England to be played in Dubai.
The 14-man squad announced by selectors will be led by allrounder Shoaib Malik but does not include wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal, Salman Butt or pace bowler Muhammad Asif.
Asif was not selected because of his detention in Dubai for 19 days in 2008 for possession of hashish and subsequent entry-ban.
Sarfaraz Ahmed has been chosen as the wicket keeper while other players being named in the national squad include Shahid Afridi, Khalid Latif, Umar Akmal, Imran Farhan, Fawad Alam, Abdur Razzaq, Imran Nazir, Yasir Arafat, Umar Gul, Muhammad Talha, Saeed Ajmal and Wahab Riaz.
Although, Shahid Afridi was named in the squad but he will not be available for the first match on Feb. 19 as he is serving a two-match ban for ball-tampering against Australia earlier this month.
Pakistan’s A team coach Aijaz Ahmed, who is already in Dubai, has been appointed to coach the national team replacing Intikhab Alam, who faces an inquiry after the disastrous tour of Australia.
Moreover, Yawar Saeed will remain the manager even after the poor Australian tour.
It may be noted that the two Twenty20 matches are scheduled to be played between Pakistan and England on February 19 and 20.
