Pakistan fast-bowler Mohammad Asif will not be able to feature in two Twenty20 International against England in Dubai.
Asif, 27, was deported from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after being detained for 19 days at Dubai airport last June when a small quantity of opium was found in his possession.
Pakistan Cricket Board had requested the UAE authorities to get Asif clear from entering to the country but they turned it down as itβs not possible under their laws. A similar request was also made last year and was also refused.
UAE has been Pakistan’s home away from home after teams refused to tour the country due to security and safety concerns. Pakistan recently hosted New Zeaalnd ODI and T20I series in Dubai and Abu Dhani and set to host England for two twenty20 international next week.
Pakistan has also invited Proteas for a Test and one-day series later in the year in the UAE after South Africa refused to tour the troubled country in October-November this year due to security concerns.
Asif so far has been one of Pakistan’s best bowler on the recently concluded tour of Australia and New Zealand, took 19 wickets in the three-Test series against Kiwis and another 13 in as many Tests against Aussies.
