In the first ODI between West Indies and Sri Lanka rain has affected the play. West Indies team won the toss and they elected to bat first. They were able to score 245 runs in their 50 over. The start for West Indies was not good and they lost early wickets. First two wickets fell for just 42 runs.
After two early wickets opener Barath and middle order batsman RR Sarwan played well. They put on 165 runs partnership. Their batted well for the team and helped WI team to reach 245 runs total. AB Barath scored 113 runs while RR Sarwan scored 75 runs. Both batsmen took WI score to 207 runs. At 207 runs both batsmen fell.
West Indies lost only 5 wickets in their 50 over and they put on fighting total. The bowling display from Srilanka was good and their bowlers’ didn’t allow WI to score runs freely. Opening bowlers were successful for Sri Lanka and they took 4 wickets together. Malinga took 3 wickets while KMDN Kulasekara took 1 wicket. The rain has delayed the chase for Sri Lanka. They are still waiting to start their chase in the first ODI.
