South Africa vs India :- South Africa defeated India by an innings and six runs on the fourth day of the first Test at the Vidarbha Cricket Association stadium in Nagpur. Fast bowler Dale Steyn (3-57) and left-arm spinner Paul Harris (3-76) shared six wickets to bowl out India for 319 in their follow-on.

Following on after conceding a massive first-innings lead of 325, India were bowled out for six runs short in their second despite a determined 100 from Sachin Tendulkar. Paul Harris picked the vital wickets of Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni – who suffered his first Test defeat as captain since taking charge in 2008.

India never looked determined in their following innings and kept on stalling their wickets in regular interval of time. Harbhajan Singh (39), Wriddhiman Saha (36), Zaheer Khan (33) however resisted hard and came up with useful cameo but Proteas were too strong to wrap up India in 107.1 overs.

Resuming at day at 66-2 after being made to follow on after South Africa had declared their first innings at 558/6 and bowled out India for 233. The hosts lost overnight batsman Murali Vijay was dispatched in no time followed by debutant Subramaniam Badrinath (6) edged Parnell to Mark Boucher.

Steyn finished a match haul of 10 wickets while Paul Harris got three for 76 in the second innings.

South Africa took a 1-0 series lead with second and final test to be played in Kolkata and Proteas will reclaim the number one ranking if they win the series.
