England Lions secured an unassailable lead against Pakistan in the three-match Twenty20 series with a convincing eight-wicket win in the second match in Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Lions inspired by Yorkshire leg-spinner Adil Rashid, who wiped through Pakistan to restrict them to 106.
Lions took 16.1 overs to pile down the target with opener Craig Kieswetter bashed an unbeaten 40 from 42 balls and Ian Bell hit 34 off 29 balls to ease through Pakistan’s mild total. Steve Davies (17) and Michael Lumb (13) were the only batsmen fall to Wahab Raiz and Abdul Rehman respectively.
Earlier in the day, Lions opted to field and never let Pakistan get settle in the middle. Leg-spinner Rashid first had Aamer Sajjad caught by Andrew Gale for 13 before Kashif Siddiq (nought) and Asad Shafiq (five) were both stumped by Kieswetter as Pakistan lost four wickets for just seven runs to stall their innings.
Chris Woakes and Sajid Mahmood snapped in with two wickets apiece while Rashid finished with three for 13 from his four overs.
