The winning streak of Australian team is continuing. The won the first world cup match of 2011 to make it no loss for the captain Ricky Ponting. Australia batted well after winning the toss. Shane Watson scored 79 runs and he proved once again that he is good at opening position. He batted steadily and get some batting practice.

Australian captain R Ponting who have scored two half centuries in warm up games didn’t able to score runs as he run out on 28. Michael Clark who was out of form has attained his form back as he scored 58 runs and remains not out. He played very good inning and stayed till the end of the inning.

Australia lost only six wickets and they set the target of 262 runs. The Zimbabwe side was not good and they lost early wickets. They didn’t able to score runs but they tried to protect wickets. There were little partnerships between them and they were able to score 171 runs in 47 over.

MG Johnson was the pick of the bowlers. He took 4 wickets and helped Australian team to reach victory. It was 91 runs win for world champions and they started their journey for another undefeated world cup.
