Co-host of cricket World Cup 2011, Sri Lanka will take on Kenya in the group ‘A’ match at Premadasa Stadium Colombo on Tuesday (tomorrow). Sri Lanka has played two matches,
resulting one victory and a defeat. Its points on points table are 2. On the other hand Kenya has lost its first two matches and its points are 0 and is placed on last position in group ‘A’.
In 2003 World Cup, with the superb bowling of Collins Obuya 5/24, Kenya gave an upset defeat to Sri Lanka in Nairobi. After that Kenyan team reached into the semi-finals and wondered the world. But in this Mega event the African side is in worse performance and lost its both games with big margins but Kenyan captain James Kamande is confident that his side can script a turnaround in fortunes despite his side being overwhelmed twice in this competition.
“We need to make a few changes to our batting order. We haven’t expressed ourselves well enough and we are going to give it 110 percent tomorrow,” Kamande said.
On the other hand coach of Sri Lankan team Trevor Bayliss concurred with the observation. “The fact that we didn’t win our last game against Pakistan will stop us from getting complacent. Our guys are consciously aware of the need to play good cricket. Our boys know they can play a lot better than they did against Pakistan and I’m sure the boys are keen to do just that in the next match.”
