IPL: Delhi Daredevils beat Kochi Tuskers by 38 runs

With the aggressive and outstanding innings of Virender Sehwag Delhi Daredevils beat Kochi Tuskers Kerala by 38 runs, played at Kochi. Batting first, the visitors set the total of 157/7 in limited overs. Following the target, the host bowled out for 119 runs.

According to details, the captain of Delhi Daredevils Virender Sehwag wins the toss and elected to bat first. Daredevils goes early in trouble by losing the big wicket of David Warner. He couldn’t understand the swinging delivery of Sreesanth and ball flies the middle stump. Sreesanth not permitted Naman Ohja to open his score account and told him the way of pavilion in the same over. In despite of losing two early wickets, captain Sehwag, without gaining pressure, started playing aggressive strokes all around the ground. The partnership between captain and his meat Venugopal Rao was of 31 runs but the Rao’s contribution in this score was of just one run. After scoring just 1 run on 10 balls, Rao retuned to pavilion.

This time Yogesh Nagar came to join the skipper, Nagar played a bit slow cricket while Sehwag continued to move on his side’s total in aggressive way. Both players added 56 runs in mutual cooperation. This partnership ended in 15th over when Nagar goes rutout in the result of a direct throw of Parthew Patel. He scored 22 runs after facing 22 balls.
Sehwag once again got success in building a good partnership, along with new batsman Travis Birt and picks the total of Delhi to 132.

The shining innings of Sehwag ended on 80, Bred Hodge took his catch on the ball of Vinay Kumar. He played just 47 balls for this score and took the help of 8 boundaries and 5 massive sixes. Birt was bowled out by Ramish Pawar when his score was 20. At the 20 overs, Delhi posted 157/7 on scoreboard. Sreesanth took 2 wickets for 10 runs.

Following the target, Tuskers lose the wicket of Michael Klinger in the begging. Van der Merwe took his diving catch on the ball Morne Morkal. On the first delivery of 3rd over, Brendon McCullum goes clean bowled by Irfan Pathan. He scored 7 runs on the same number of balls. Pathan not permitted Patheiv Patel to play openly and returned him on just 1. After losing quick wickets, under pressure Captain Mahela Jayawardene batted slowly, but he failed to play a big innings and returned to dressing room after scoring 18 runs on 28 balls.

Bred Hodge and Ravindrasinh Jadeja, who were looking for a big partnership, added 27 runs in mutual cooperation. Hodge was taken by Ajeet Agarkar on 27. Jadeja, along with new batsman Balachandra Akhil, added 41 runs in the 6th wicket partnership. Morkal this time gave the breakthrough by sending Akhil back to pavilion. Akhil scored 13 runs on 9 balls. The resistance of Jadeja ended on 31, Van der Merwe took his catch on the ball of Agarkar. Vinay Kumar (11), Ramish Pawar (0), Sreesanth (0), and RP Singh (1), failed to show struggle against Delhi bowlers, and the whole team booked for 119 runs.

Van der Merwe and Morne Morkal took 3 wickets each while Irfan Pathan finished the innings of 2 Kochi batsmen. In the reward of his great batting, the victious captain Virender Sehwag was named for the Man of the Match Award.

In the presentation the happy captain (Sehwag) said:
“Absolutely happy. The wicket was not easy, Once we crossed 120, I thought we had got par. I was hitting the ball nicely, it was obvious I had to bat longer.”
