After the stepping down of Andrew Strauss from the ODI there is change in captaincy for the England ODI team. England has named Alastair Cook as their new captain. He will captain the side for the ODI’s while Stuart Broad will be the captain for the team in the T-20 matches. He will lead the team in limited over short form of the game.
Stuart Broad was not able to continue his world cup after the injury made him out from the world cup. Strauss has quitted from the ODI’s as he wants to concentrate on his test match cricket. He wants to continue his longer format of the game.
After the decisions of two new captains it is clear that England will have three captains for three formats of the game. Strauss will lead the team in Test matches while Cook will captain the ODI team while Broad is chosen as a leader for the T-20 matches. All three captains are the key players for the England team and they have the capabilities to lead the team from the front.
The coach for the England team said that it is a new experiment by the England Cricket Board and they are not sure whether it will work for them or not. Stuart Broad will replace Collingwood for the captaincy in the T-20 matches. He was leader of the team in T-20 matches when England was crowned with the world cup. He will make his debut as a captain against Sri Lanka on 25th June.
Strauss will make his presence as a leader in the test matches. He retired from the limited over cricket and now will be available only for the test matches.
