Collingwood Needs Knee Surgery

England all-rounder Paul Collingwood requires a knee injury. He will be available for the world cup matches but he will not able to participate in the IPL in the initial stage. He is having a problem in the knee and will make it right after a surgery.

ECB’s chief medical officer, Dr Nick Peirce said that his medical examination suggests that loose piece of cartilage floating in his knee and that is causing a problem for him and a surgery is require to remove it. He added that all-rounder was feeling problem in his knee before the South Africa match.

He added that proper medical care will make it in due course of time and he will be ok after surgery. In the IPL he is signed by the Rajasthan team and he will be available to them later in the tournament.

The inclusion of Collingwood in the quarter final against Sri Lanka is still in doubts and it is expected that his bad form might not able him to get the eye of selectors and Luke Wright might get another chance in place of him.

He has retired from the test cricket but still the captain of T-20 side. He wants to play for England for as long as it will be possible for him.

Paul Collingwood Under Threats Of Dropping From WC Squad

Paul Collingwood is one of the main all-rounders from England team. He has played most number of international matches in the current English team. He is under threats of ejection from the final 15 squad for the world cup. English selection committee doesn’t fear to eliminate even big players. He is not in the best of form.

Paul Collingwood was dropped from the first ODI team against Australia. This gives indication that he is under a great threats that he might not be in final 15 of the English squad. English Captain Andrew Strass backed him and said that Paul Collingwood is in the final 15 as per our plan. He really like Paul Collingwood to be in team.

Former English captain Michael Vaughn said that Collingwood is very good in the middle order for the English team and also hope for his inclusion in the team. Collingwood want to be in the team till next years T-20 world cup and then it would be great time for him to retire from cricket.

The current form of Paul is a real concern for selectors as he scored just 83 runs in five Test and scored 22 runs in 2 T-20 matches. Now it be decided on Wednesday weather he will be in

England has announced its team for ODI’s and T-20 matches. The strange thing is that K Peterson has been dropped by England team first time in his career since he joined England team he has never been dropped. Whenever he was available to play he was in the team.

Twenty20 squad of England includes Paul Collingwood (capt), James Anderson,Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad, Steven Davies, Craig Kieswetter, Eoin Morgan, Ryan Sidebottom, Graeme Swann, Luke Wright and Michael Yardy.

One-day squad Andrew Strauss (capt), James Anderson, Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad, Paul Collingwood, Steven Davies, Eoin Morgan, Ajmal Shahzad, Ryan Sidebottom, Graeme Swann, Jonathan Trott, Luke Wright and Michael Yardy.

Pakistan hasn’t announced its team yet. Team is busy in solving spot fixing scandal. Kamaran Akmal has been cleared by investigation team as he was clear from every thing. They also said that they will not further investigate him. Pakistan will also play under Shahid Afridi Captaincy and it is hopped that team will perform well and get rid of these allegations of match fixing. First T-20 will be played on 5th September and second one will be on 7th September. ODI’s will start from 10th of September.

South Africa takes on England at Wanderers in the first T20I tonight

The South Africa-England Series kickstarts today with a T20I at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg tonight. The two teams will clash again tomorrow in a simlar format before heading into the more serious business of the ODI and the Test Series.

England go into the first T20I with the embarassment of losing a warm-up match against South Africa A at Bloemfontein. The visitors were bundled out for a paltry 89 on Tuesday. The batsmen seem to be low in confidence but the bowlers did well for them by stretching that match till the 18th over and taking six wickets of a decent South Africa A side.
