31-year-old Afridi, who is presently playing country cricket for Hampshire in English Twenty20 League has decided to bounce the remaining matches of his team and landed on Karachi Airport via Abu Dubai last night to be by his father’s side.

Afridi missed the initial matches of county

The veteran all-rounder missed the primary stages of his county stretch due to a crevice with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that rescinded his No Objection Certificate, to play abroad.

The father of Afridi is combating a protracted infirmity and also went through a surgery in the United States in May.

Wrong news about Afridi’s father death

There was some news in media that Sahibzada Fazal-Ur-Rehman passes away but it’s not confirmed. Some websites also claim Fazal-Ur-Rehman’s death and plenty of people receive same news through SMS. But the credible sources, after examining rejected the erroneous reports.

According to the latest reports Fazal-Ur-Rehman kept on ventilator. May Allah cure him and grant him the best of health.

Lack of partnerships was weak point of team: Afridi

According to details, while talking to media, Shahid Afridi said that the pitch of Providence stadium was not as, on which Green shirts would collapse at only 139 runs. He added that Pakistani batsmen are struggling since a long time and I believe that our team is in a need of such a person who can put us out of this situation. He further told that we wanted to bat first that’s why we decided to bat first but unfortunately could not present a good game. Afridi says, as there is no international cricket at the home grounds so victory of this away from home series is very important for Pakistan team, players should keep their moral high and this victory would be the base of next victories.

Afridi would concentrate on batting

Shahid Afridi has conceded that he could not give enough attention to batting line due to which he is unable to play as an aggressive batsman since last few matches. Now he has decided to give full attention to his batting. It is to be remembered that, in the 5 matches against West Indies, Afridi could have score only 28 runs by the average of just 9.33. His highest score in this ODI series is just 11 runs. Afridi said that the absence of Chris Gayle and Chanderpaul is very disappointing and his presence would add more excitement and charm of the series. According to him Chanderpaul can prove very important for West Indian side yet, and his board will have to seek out the issues with him for the betterment of the game.

He was appointed as captain for three formats of the game but he later on decided to quit the test cricket. He retired from the test cricket and retained ODI and T-20 captaincy. Imran Khan suggested that Afridi should lead Pakistan team in three formats of the game. Shahid Afridi said that he doesn’t think that he is the best choice for the longer format of the game.

Shahid Afridi added that he is now focusing on his batting and wants to get some runs on the board in the upcoming West Indies series. He added that he is looking to improve his batting as his own daughter is also calling him Baba BOOM BOOM because of his poor batting.

Pakistan was going nicely in the world cup but they lost the match against India in the semi final. They got defeated by 29 runs. Shahid Afridi added that it was team effort that helped them in defeating Australian team. Australia was defeated after two world cups by any team. He added that there is a lot of improvement in the team and they have improved a lot.

The tour will begin from 18^th April and Afridi has decided to travel with the team as he made himself available for selection. Shahid Afridi said that he wants to spent time with family but they want him to play for Pakistan so he has decided to go with Pakistan team to West Indies.

Shahid Afridi was tired from hectic cricket schedule. Pakistan played consecutive series and travelled a lot.  They played in Dubai against South Africa and after that they went to New Zealand. At the end of NZ tour there was time for the world cup. They fought till semi final in the world cup. All these things make him to rest after the world cup.

There were no expectations from Pakistan side that they will even qualify for the quarter final. Pakistani team top in their group and then they go through the quarter final comprehensively. They played against India in the semi final match. India was the hot favorite team and they won the match against Pakistan.

Afridi said that Pakistan team was struggling in batting department throughout the tournament. He added that it was great performance from Pakistani bowlers but there was no good partnership from Pakistan team. Opening partnership of 44 runs was the best for Pakistan team.

Afridi said that he is proud of his team and boys had done a good join to reach semi final. He said that there was lot of expectations from the Pakistan team to win the match but they could not win it. Afridi added that he is happy with team performance and youngsters have done a good job for the team. Afridi also said ‘SORRY’ to the nation for not winning against India.

Pakistan defeated Australia by 6 wickets. It was great victory for Pakistan and it took them to the top position in the pool. Pakistan will now play against West Indies at Dhaka. Afridi said that the win against Australia will enlighten the image of Pakistan in the world.

He added that win has conveyed the message to the world that they are still the best team in the difficult situation. Afridi said that Pakistan performed well in all three departments and won the game. Afridi himself ended with the most wicket taker bowler in the group matches with his 17 wickets in 6 matches.

Afridi said that it will be great semi-final if two Asian teams got success in their quarter final matches. The winner of first two quarter final matches will contest each other on 30^th March

There were some security threats to Pakistan team about there matches in their matches in India but Shahid rejected any fear to play in India. Previously he said that they will prefer to play in Sri Lanka but now he is saying that the venue doesn’t matter for them.

Imran Khan also criticized on Afridi previous view and said that if he be on his place he will announce publically that he is will to play in India. The relations between India and Pakistan are not good after the Mumbai attacks and it has also affected their cricket relations.

The reason behind the Afridi previous interview might be the tense relations. Afridi also said that they are focusing on the game against Australia and they will work hard to win that match.

Pakistan team has been qualifying for the quarterfinal after a win against Zimbabwe. They are now in knock out round and will give tough time to their opponents.
