In IPL 2011 edition Sehwag will once again perform as captain for DD team. He belongs to Delhi so he is much exited for his appointment as captain of the team. He also expressed his happiness by saying that he do not want to go in any other team. Delhi team is his first priority.

While his captaining to the Delhi team, he took team to semi-finals in 2008 and the team won the final in 2009 edition of IPL. In the forth edition of IPL he is much exited about the captaincy. Tillakaratne Dilshan, AB de Villiers, Dirk Nannes and Daniel Vettori are the players who were with Delhi team but now moved to other teams. Delhi will definitely miss the great players but now the real test will be of the captaincy of Sehwag. He will captain the team and also have to handle the batting responsibility.

G Gambhir will perform captaincy for his team and he is much exited on getting the new job for ODI series. He is looking for the challenge and expressed that he will definitely try hard to get win. He said that it was his dream to perform as captain of India and he will definitely try to perform well and will get series win for India.

While talking about the toss in the matches he said that its all depend upon the wickets and toss will not any big difference in the game. He also said that S Raina and Yuvraj Singh are good and match winning players and they are truly an asset for the country.

S Raina is going through bad patch in ODI’s as he has only 1 half centuries in last 15 ODI innings. Wriddhiman Saha will perform as wicket keeper and Ghambire praised him and said that he has some good batting skills. He is making some runs in domestic cricket and will also perform well in ODI series.

He has also given an indication that S Raina should take break in last three ODI’s against New Zealand. If Raina will not take break then he will be given rest in the first test match against South Africa starting from 16 December.

Raina is going through bad batting phase as he scored 26 runs in 4 innings so it is suggested to him to get some rest and then focus on his cricket. He is also included in team for the first two ODI’s.

Sachin Tendulkar, Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan and Virender Sehwag will be rested in the ODI series against New Zealand. Dhoni said that physical fitness and mental relaxation is essential for player to perform well so it is better to take rest rather then mental stress by more crickets. He praises Raina and said that he is a good player and will get his good form back again.

Haroon Lorgat has asked BCCI and South African board to decide about the use of UDRS

Haroon Lorgat said that the final decision is to made by both boards as they have left the decision to the two boards. They will decide after consulting with each other. India has some reservations about the technology as it went against then in Sri Lankan series where 11 decision went against them and only 1 in their favor.

Virender Sehwag and Zaheer Khan showed some favor to this system and they said that it will enhance the fairness and slandered of the game. Some analyst said that the technology will make the umpires useless. SA is using the referral system on regular basis as they used it thrice in four test series.

The final decision will come from both boards. The series is starting from 16th of December. Three test matches at the start of the tour then one T-20 match and after that ODI will conclude the series.

It was a good toss to win for Dhoni’s team as the Green Park pitch is expected to crumble and keep low as the match goes ahead. Sehwag was put down by the keeper and first slip in the very first over when he had not even opened his account. After a watchful first hour, Sehwag along with Gambhir got used to the slow pace of the wicket and what followed in the rest of the morning session and the afternoon one was a wonderful display of strokeplay by both the openers.

By the time Sri Lanka could break the opening partnership which was in the 42nd over, India had raced away to 233! Sehwag was the first to go after driving Murali in the air to covers but not before he had set up the match with a dominating 18th test century. His innings contained a couple off sixes which came against Ajantha Mendis. Gautam Gambhir lasted a little longer than Sehwag and was key to another solid partnership in the day for India. The left hander put on 137 with the inform Rahul Dravid before getting brilliantly caught and bowled by Muralitharan. Gambhir’s 167 had 15 fours and most of his runs had come from some superb running. It was his 8th test hundred and the second consecutive one against Sri Lanka.

At close of play, Rahul Dravid (85* from 153 balls with 8 fours) consolidated India’s position with an unbeaten stand of 47 with Sachin Tendulkar (20* from 53 balls). The hosts had made two changes going into this match with Sreesanth and Pragyan Ojha replacing Ishant Sharma and birthday boy Amit Mishra. Sri Lanka brought in Ajantha Mendis in the place of the injured Dammika Prasad.

Australia’s chances of winning the fourth ODI at Mohali have been boosted with the injuries to the two Indian batsmen – Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir. The Delhi pair had sustained injuries during the third ODI at their home ground. Both these batsmen are likely to miss tomorrow’s match and the Indian Selectors have given a SOS to Dinesh Karthik to join the team.

Gautam Gambhir was injured while fielding at the dangerous position of short leg. He got a nasty blow on the side of his neck from a full blooded pull shot from the Australian Skipper Ricky Ponting. Gambhir left the field after that moment but returned back to bat at his normal position of no.3. The left hander scored 6 from 15 balls before getting clean bowled by Nathan Hauritz. Gambhir has been in terrific form though having struck half centuries in both the 1st and the 2nd ODIs.

On the other hand, Virender Sehwag injured his toe after getting smacked on it by a yorker from Peter Siddle. Sehwag scored 11 from 25 balls yesterday before getting bowled by Mitchell Johnson. India will be unlucky if they lose Sehwag for tomorrow’s game as he had already missed quite a few matches recently due to a shoulder injury.
